Deep Fried worked with Ocean Design on this project to produce a CMS driven site for Claro Law. Utilsing custom designed templates inside WordPress, the designs provided by Ocean Design were converted in to HTML and CSS, while the back-end CMS was modified in PHP to function in a more intuitive and functional way.

DeepFried was contracted in on this project to design and develop the workstation interface for Train Control Operators at OnTrack NZ Ltd. The TRaCS3 system is part of a nationwide upgrade of New Zealand’s rail network communications between Train Control and track users using radio networks interfacing with VOIP. 

TRACs Workstation was developed using FLEX and Actionscript 3 interfacing with OnTrac’s proprietary TRaCS3 software to display audio communications. The project involved incorporating functionality of the previous software as well providing recommendations for improvements in usability and user flow.

Ocean Outfitters Site

Another DeepFried Labs project, Ocean Outfitters is a an online store for water sports enthusiasts. Built on the Magento ECommerce Engine, Ocean Outfitters has been customised to meet the site’s specific requirements and aesthetic.

The site interfaces with dps to process credit card payments, handles stock inventory, has a comprehensive administration section, extensive email capability and much much more.

For this site a seperate mobile interface has been developed for purchasing goods on the run.

Born out of the DeepFried Labs, SessionLogs.com is social network site where sports people from around the world can share their favorite locations and experiences. It was created to answer the question of whether the digital online environment could positively influence participation in real world activities.

DeepFried built the site from the ground up, from initial concept and UX strategy, wire framing, visual design, user interface design and final build. As it is a social network site – where all the content is user driven – a Human Centered Design process was critical in developing an engaging user experience.

Large format Installation work for the Kiwi Bank.

Multitouch screen.

Large scale interactive multitouch panel. Built in Flex to intoduce customers to new products and services.

Very large scale animated info-graphic. Built in Flash and pulling in dynamic live data from external API ‘s and custom sources. The project required Design, Animation, AS3, API and XML coding to integrate content  into the animated info-graphic elements.

NZ Post – read, write, grow

A site for the NZ Post Book Awards utilizing a responsive design based on viewing device for mobile and desktop.  The  mobile version of the site features custom typography in the content samples of the book, this was done to mirror the design and type used in the publication and to keep the  page sizes small.

An interactive Touch Smart Screen installation, allowing members of the public to send live messages of support to the 2012 Olympics team in London. Features multi-touch control, default system overrides, onscreen keyboard and Ajax UI elements.

Deepfried was employed as consultant by Massey University to help develop a cutting edge collaborative tool for connecting creatives, researchers, research areas, individuals and industry.

We were asked to develop a concept based on leading design research and bring it to life – blending social media and networked community theory, with an engaging user experience and an intuitive interface design.

Dee Fried then developed a working prototype in Adobe AIR AS3 interfacing with SQLite database, as well as developing custom algorithms for co-ordinating map associations and interactions.

NZTA’s interactive campaign to encourage better driving habits by highlighting similarities between road users. This project featured a fully animated interface, multiple API and social graph integration, dynamic audio content and visual presentation based on user interaction and Facebook social graph data.

Palmerston North City Library

The Palmerston North Library website is a CMS driven site that allows the client full capabilities to customise the design, structure and layout of the front-end of the site to suit their ongoing needs. A comprehensive custom back-end system was developed on top of an open source CMS, to produce  flexible and powerful tool set for site administrators.

The site features the use of multiple API integrations pulling in content and services from various library databases. The front end of the site is a fully responsive design that re-sizes from desktop down to tablet and mobile devices.

Deepfried worked with Salted Herring to produce this project.

Chris Brown : Creative Director

Chris has lived and breathed web and interactive design since 1997.

With many roles in the industry such as UX Consultant, UI Designer, Company Founder and 6 years as a University Lecturer — Chris has a unique insight into the world of interactive design and digital development, something that his clients have been quick to appreciate.

In 2005 Chris gained his Master of Design Degree, where he investigated how Persuasion Theory could be applied to interface design and web strategy. Not only were his findings a revelation but they are highly applicable to today’s sophisticated digital environment.

Over the years Chris has had experience in all areas of the interactive development process from concept to launch and iterative refinement. Combining his in-depth knowledge of social media development, UX, UI, design process and digital business practices he can drill down to the core of an issue and design a successful solution.

Kate’s involvement with software goes way back – her father founding one of the first software development companies in NZ in the late ’70s. Growing up she had summer jobs building circuit boards and user testing software. After graduating from Otago University in 1996 with a Bachelor of Science, Kate turned her hand to the family trade.

Kate began her software development career programming desktop applications in C++ for the finance industry in Australia and New Zealand. She soon turned her attention to web development and has brought a diverse range of web applications to life for clients in NZ, the UK and US.

With 12+ years experience in C++, Objective C, Javascript, JQuery, Actionscript 3, Flash, flex, AIR, ColdFusion, PHP and CSS in her programming arsenal, Kate has a wealth of experience and a flexible, solution centric approach to each web project she takes on.
