Our story

Deepfried Productions Limited was founded in 2001 by Kate and Chris Brown to provide high-quality consulting and contracting IT services.

With Chris’s design and Kate’s development and delivery talents, Deepfried has worked with numerous IT, Marketing and design companies throughout New Zealand, Australia and the US to deliver a wide range of digital projects.

Ocean Outfitters

In 2010 to balance out the IT workload we opened the best little surf shop in NZ. Working IT upstairs and running the surf shop downstairs, we became the community hub for surf enthusiasts in the Mana, Wellington area.

Ocean Outfitters sold top quality surf, kitesurf, windsurf and paddle board equipment as well as provided top quality training and ran popular local events.

The shop won the Top Shop regional award and was second nationally – not bad considering the budget and scale of the competition.

The surf shop was an opportunity to continue our work in creating online communities, but also taking that into the offline world. Setting up a digital ecosystem which fed seamlessly into real world activities and a physical hub. Along with the shop we ran events as well as a ladies paddle group and taught SUP courses from beginner to advanced.
